Aston Martin Vantage Roadster (2025) revealed - roofless in 6.8 seconds
The open-top version naturally comes with the same 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine and 665 PS as in the Coupé

Fresh air, a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 and one of the world's fastest folding roofs: that's the new Aston Martin Vantage Roadster, which from the second quarter of 2025 will join the fixed-roof Vantage in the Aston Martin range, which was completely redesigned about a year ago.

Exterior
The exterior of the Vantage Roadster follows the lines of the coupé. The sloping bonnet, strikingly enlarged radiator grille and muscular rear end are not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional. The larger air intake improves engine cooling by 30 per cent, while the car's aerodynamics have been optimised to minimise drag when the roof is open or closed.

Which brings us to the soft top. The only formal difference to the coupé is that it uses a Z-folding mechanism that requires no additional covers and can be opened and closed in just 6.8 seconds - even at speeds of up to 30 mph. This design saves weight and lowers the centre of gravity for improved handling. This design saves weight and lowers the car's centre of gravity, which should improve handling. The Roadster is available in a choice of colours including Iridescent Sapphire and Bronze Flare, while the roof is available in a range of colours including black, blue and red.
Interior
The interior of the Vantage Roadster is finished in materials such as Haircell leather and Alcantara, which can be combined with chrome and carbon accents to create a personalised atmosphere. The seats are heated and offer eight-way adjustment, with ventilated seats and extended adjustability available as options. The Roadster features a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system that combines gesture control with physical switches for key functions such as suspension modes and climate control.

For audiophiles (who hate engine noise), Aston Martin offers two systems: the standard 11-speaker system or the optional Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system. Despite its open design, the Roadster's cockpit is said to remain pleasantly quiet even when the soft top is closed. Talk about quality insulation. And a Vantage has always been more of a GT than a thoroughbred race car.
Drive and technology
At the heart of the Vantage Roadster is a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine which, like the coupé, produces 665 PS and 800 Nm of torque. Connected to the rear wheels via a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission, the engine accelerates the car from 0 to 62 mph in 3.6 seconds. Top speed is 325 km/h. Contact with the road is maintained by Bilstein dampers and specially developed Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 tyres.
One small drawback of the folding roof? You always have to reckon with a little extra weight when converting to a convertible. In the case of the Vantage, the difference between the two models is a total of 60 kilos.

The 49:51 weight distribution, aluminium structure and stiffened chassis components are designed to contribute to the car's stability and agility. Road handling is further enhanced by the electronic limited slip differential and advanced traction control systems, which can be adjusted in eight stages to suit driving style and road conditions. Familiar from the closed Vantage.
Market launch & Prices
As already mentioned, the market launch of the Vantage Roadster is planned for the second quarter of 2025. Customers will be able to customise the vehicle via the "Q by Aston Martin" service and choose from a wide range of paint finishes, interior materials and technical options. The starting price is expected to be around £180,000, depending on the equipment selected and the personalisation options.
Comparison with the coupé
The Vantage Coupé offers a more rigid body structure. With the same power output as the Roadster, it accelerates 0.1 second faster and has the same top speed. The Coupé also has a slightly larger boot. How does it drive? Here is the Aston Martin Vantage review that answers the question of whether the new model is a match for the 911 Turbo.
