We recently tested the facelifted Audi RS Q8. The revised super SUV has 640 hp in the new performance version, making it the most powerful internal combustion Audi in history. But of course it didn't take long for Abt to add to that. The result is the RSQ8 Legacy Edition (RSQ8-LE).

We already know the Legacy Editions of the RS 6 and the RS 7 from 2023, and the Abts have put the RS Q8 through the wringer several times. So far there have been the RSQ8-S, the RSQ8-R and the RSQ8 Signature Edition. So what does the new Legacy Edition of the big performance boat have to offer?

Abt enthuses about "a seamless adaptation of the unique Legacy Edition design language that reflects the brand's identity while embodying its own character". Well, let's look at the numbers instead. With the help of the Abt Power R performance upgrade, the 4.0-litre biturbo V8 now produces 760 PS and 980 Nm as in the RS6 Legacy Edition - an increase of 120 PS and 130 Nm. Nearly four-figure torque figures are, of course, quite something.

That's enough to make a 2.4-tonne freighter fly. Abt does not specify performance figures, but the 3.6-second 0-62 mph time and 190 mph top speed of the standard RS Q8 are likely to be surpassed. A new rear silencer with four 105 mm tailpipes should provide a suitable acoustic background (which is already quite impressive ex-factory).

In terms of driving dynamics, the Kempten-based tuner relies on its Level Control for the air suspension and an adaptation of the electronic roll stabilisation system "developed in direct cooperation with the manufacturer". Abt promises "increased lateral dynamics and reduced body roll with razor-sharp roadholding and superior ride comfort".

An important part of the Abt conversions are the carbon aero kits. For the RSQ8 Legacy Edition, the package includes bonnet inserts to ventilate the engine compartment, a front lip, front skirt attachments, mirror cap attachments and a front wing extension. There are also door sills, a rear apron insert, rear apron attachments and a rear wing with aeroblades. The wheel arch vents are finished in gloss black. The car is finished in gloss black 23-inch Legacy Edition alloy wheels with 295/35 R23 tyres.

Inside, the RSQ8-LE differs from its standard counterpart with lots of carbon fibre, including on the gearshift paddles, dashboard trim, gear knob cap and seat frame trim. The sports steering wheel is covered in Alcantara. There are also so many logos, lettering and emblems that everyone really knows what you are driving.

By the way, what you see here in the pictures is still a design simulation, but it is very close to the final product. The official live premiere of the RSQ8-LE will take place on 20 March 2025. The price of the RSQ8-LE package is €95,900 (approx. £80,000). There are additional costs for assembly and MOT approval. And, of course, an Audi RS Q8.
